Everybody’s body is different. Let me begin by saying that.
There’s a recommended amount of everything, but you have to find out what works for your body and your mind. I’ve been trying to figure that out for myself. One of my biggest, BIGGEST things is water intake and monitoring how much I’m drinking in a day. If I don’t drink enough it makes me tired and gives me a headache. I’ve found that three liters, or just under, makes me feel much better.
Something else that I find really works for me is counting calories. It holds me more accountable for what I’m eating and it makes me want to choose healthier options. There’s a few ways you can go about doing this, but I find it easier to let an app do the work for you. If you have a Fitbit you can download their app and there’s a spot to search for foods and add it in a log, but I found that when I would search for food items more often than not it wouldn’t be there. The easiest app that I’ve found is LoseIt!. It has a lot of the food I normally eat and the app also comes with a community to ask questions. However, if you do have a Fitbit and want to connect the apps, you have to pay for a premium account.
The one that I’m using right now is called MyFitnessPal. It’s a little bit more complicated looking, but once you figure it out then it’s pretty easy. I haven’t come across anything missing from their food search and they make it easy to create your own recipes. On top of that, if you have a Fitbit you can connect the apps with no extra cost.
If you have the money to buy a Fitbit I highly recommend it. It makes it easy to keep track of your workouts and how many calories you’re burning. I also love watching my steps go up. You can set daily goals for yourself and compete with other people. It really motivates me.
I’m not a big gym person, but I do have a gym membership and I really use it for cardio. I can’t deal with the treadmill unless I have a fun, upbeat workout playlist to go with it. Here’s mine:
- You Already Know- Fergie
- Pretty Girls- Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea
- Love Lockdown- Kanye West
- Push It- Salt N Pepa
- Every Little Thing- Russel Dickerson
- Finesse- Bruno Mars & Cardi B
- This is How We Do- Katy Perry
- Focus- Ariana Grande
- Marry You- Bruno Mars
- Sorry Not Sorry- Demi Lovato
- Take Me- Aly & AJ
